Hey this is Mike McCready, your host on episode 77 of The Hookblast Podcast.

This is the podcast where we discover a few new catchy songs. You add the ones you love to your own streaming playlists. Some people like to Shazam the songs as they’re listening to the show. Some people like to ask Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant to play the show for them. Some people go to hookblast.com and follow my playlists on all the major streaming services there. You rock out all week, and the next week we repeat. The process.  Not the songs.  That would get old.

OK. This time of year is always hard for me…. it was this time of year When I was 13, my family moved to Broken Bow, Nebraska.  And when I was 15, I found them.  My therapist says I have abandonment issues but I don’t worry about it because it’s just a matter of time before they leave me too.

OK. Let’s play some hooks. Let’s start off with a song that deals with escapism through music and vice.  Vice is another word for bad habit. My wife says I have a bad habit of always telling people my flaws.

This is Deathsails with their song, Downer.

OK. That’s Downer by Deathsails… Good names for a song and a band, but passed over by SpaceX for naming their Rocket and orbiter. “Houston this is Downer….  it looks like we may have a problem with the deathsails.”  hehehe  ok.   I’m a genius.

OK on deck we’ve got a song by returning artist Carrington Christina.  This is Sand In The Hourglass

That song is funky.  Kinda like yours truly.

Now, I want to clear something up. My wife’s upset because I may have mentioned on the show that she has OCD. Yeah…  well that really upset her…  So, I want to be clear… she doesn’t suffer from OCD.  Nah…. She enjoys every minute of it.  When I told her I was going to leave if she didn’t get help, she told me to open and close the door exactly five times on my way out.

Anyway…  I don’t know what to do. She has OCD and I have ADD. So between the two of us, everything has to be just perfect… but not for very long. Sorry….  I’m ranting.

Anyway, up next on the show today is a song by Magenta Dusk.  This is Give It Up. It’s a brooding song with an uplifting chorus.

That’s Give It Up by Magenta Dusk.  Talk about giving it up.  I’m excited for September because I’m gonna give up drink for a month.  No, wait… I read that wrong.  I’m gonna give up, and drink for a month.

OK.  Behind that we have a great club summer jam. This song will be loved by anyone who loves to twerk.  And any time you’re about to twerk, remember…  you should reconsider… oh… and that’s today’s tip. You can thank me by leaving a 5-star rating and a review in your favorite podcast app.

This is No Brady by Rice

OK. We’re at that part of the show where I tell you that The Hookblast Podcast is sponsored by Music Xray.  Music Xray has twice the horsepower as the competing platforms and is recommended by 4 out of 5 dentists who …  ok ok…  I’m just kidding.  It’s where musicians go to get their music considered for industry opportunities. New musician users can apply the promo code hookblast 21 at checkout.

Last up on the show today is a song that tells the story of our addiction to the digital world and those little bits of dopamine you get every time someone subscribes to your podcast and leaves you a 5-star rating, and a comment saying I’m the best podcast host ever….  I mean.. well, anyway…. this is Sea Of Sattelites with Hello Dopamine.

OK. That’s all the time we have for episode 77 of The Hookblast Podcast.  Please share this episode with someone in your life who can use a few new catchy songs. You know who they are. Get ’em!.  No wait… share this episode with them. All songs are used with the permission of the rights holders. I’ll catch you right back here next week with a fresh batch of new hooks.  Bye Bye

Share.
