Script:

Hey this is Mike McCready, your host on episode 93 of The Hookblast Podcast.

Episode 93 is the last of season 5 and I’m rolling it out a couple days later than usual because, well, … there was a party here in NYC where everyone got COVID…. but not me.. cuz I’m triple vaxxed…  and well, cuz I wasn’t invited.

Anyway… I got all caught up in the holiday spirits and ended up overdosing on candy canes again and that really laid me up for a couple days and I couldn’t get the podcast out.  This is the podcast where we discover a few new catchy songs. You add the ones you love to your own streaming playlists or follow mine, which you can find at Hookblast.com

Since this is the last episode of season 5, I want to extend a special thank you to Rick Rocker who wrote and performs the title track to the podcast this season, it’s the song you’re hearing behind me now.  It’s called Love Turn.

When I come back next season, we’ll have a new song to kick off each episode….  I got kicked out of a meeting for telling everyone “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. Apparently, they don’t appreciate that analogy at AA meetings.

Anyway, let’s play some hooks.

Starting off the show this week is a song by New York-based artist, Seneko with his song, ’69 Camaro.

That’s Seneko with his ’69 Camaro, but that’s not why the women like him.  They like that he can play guitar.

So, after this season, The Hookblast Podcast is going to take a break until February 14th…. Valentines Day.

We’ve been doing this every week since July 4th, 2020 and I can’t think you enough for continuing to tune in to the great music we play here each week. Over that time the show has been the top trending show in Brazil a time or two, the top trending music podcast in the world a time or two and it has topped the music charts in Turkey and India…. and it has consistently been in the top 200 in the US and the UK. So, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you for listening.

OK. Up next on the show is artist Matt Bidoglia with his song called It’s Not My Decision.Heh. I used to know how Matt felt.  Most of my decisions weren’t really mine.  But now I make all the decisions in our house.  I even got my wife’s permission to say so.

That song has a great bluesy groove, doesn’t it?…

On the heels of that is a song by Odella called, For A Better Year….

Heh…  I don’t know about you, but I had to end my tradition of always going for a jog on New Years Eve…  the ice kept falling out of my glass.

Anyway, here’s to hoping For A Better Year.

Up next is a song about being able to recognize when you’ve found the right someone. This is Liz Graham with Heart2Heart

Before we jump in to the last song of the last episode of season 5 of The Hookblast Podcast, I want to thank and recognize the team that makes this show.  It is curated by Courtney Minor, it is edited and produced for audio and video by Jesse McCoy. Co-writers on this season have been Shlomi Hoss & Steve North. Legal has been with John Benmerito, and of course, all of the musicians whose songs inspire this show.

We decided to finish this show with an artist who goes by a name similar to our show but of course no relation.  This is Hooklust with Sekai Heiwa or ‘World Peace’ And hey… maybe it’s just me, but I think we could start by giving the Grinch a break next holiday season. It’s gotta be hard to have a good attitude when people are constantly singing songs about what a jerk you are. Just sayin’

That is a great happy feeling song to end the show with today. Dan Kanopka from OK Go played drums on the track. He said it was one of the more joyful songs he’s ever worked on!

OK. That’s all the time we have for episode 93 of The Hookblast Podcast. All songs are used with the permission of the rights holders. Please share this episode with someone in your life who can use a few new catchy songs in theirs.  You know who they are….  I’ll catch you right back here on February 14th. In the meantime, keep checking your subscription feed… we may release a surprise here and there between now and there.  Bye bye.
